Ok so let me just throw this out first that while Judge Masipa has found Oscar Pistorius not guilty of premeditated murder, she still has to give her verdict on whether it was culpable homicide or manslaughter ie he didn’t intend to kill Reeva Steenkamp, but his actions were negligent.
They are currently on lunch, but Judge Masipa said “The State has not proved beyond reasonable doubt that the accused is guilty of premeditated murder. There are just not enough facts to support such a finding” and “The accused therefore cannot be found guilty of murder dolus eventualis… that however is not the end of the matter as culpable homicide is a competent verdict,”
Pistorius cried as she read out the findings.
“Despite characterizing Pistorius as an unreliable witness, the judge said there were not enough facts to support a verdict of premeditated murder.
Pistorius is accused of murdering his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp on Valentine’s Day of last year. Pistorius claimed he mistook her for a burglar, but prosecutors argued he shot Steenkamp intentionally as the result of an argument.
